The Ultimate Winter Giveaway! SAD Sun Touch Light & Ion Therapy Lamp-valued: $160

This may be the season of light and cheer but nobody told Mother Nature that. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere the days are getting shorter and darker and you might find that you are feeling slower, sluggish, tired, depressed, craving carbs, irritable, anti-social and all things non-festive. This is probably due to condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder also known as SAD. A few years ago I was tired of going into a near-vegetative state every winter. I was tired of panicking every Fall wondering how I was going to survive another winter. I had seen SAD light therapy lamps advertised in Dr.'s and therapist's waiting rooms but they were always too pricey for me to justify. Finally I realized that I could not justify living like a bear for another winter when there could be a way to help myself. So I sold a child and invested in a lamp. We miss little Joe but it oh! Was it worth it. Oh relax, there never was a little Joe. Even so, not eating for a week was more then worth it.

If you follow my blog you may remember that I have written more about my love affair and the love affair of others with this life-changing magical genie-lamp many times before, including here complete with FAQ answered. If you are short on time and don't want to wade through yet another of my wordy testimonials, let me save you some. YOU NEED THIS. Or your cranky spouse/sibling/co-worker/child/mother/aunt/dog does. YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW NEEDS THIS. Trust me. Unless you live in Arizona, then you're probably ok. If not, you need it. (Including those in Northern CA, trust me, I lived there).

I told the shiny, happy people at Nature Bright that you needed this and they agreed. They are so hopped up on all that happy light that they cheerfully offered to give me one to give to you. How nice are they? One lucky commenter will be chosen at random on December 10th and shipped their very own magical genie lamp. The Sun Touch Light and Ion Therapy lamp valued at up to $160.00. Give the gift of light this Christmas. Even if it is just to yourself, the people around you will be exceedingly grateful, trust me. Just this morning someone credited this lamp as having saved their marriage. It's that good.

*I am not being paid for my evangelical endorsement or compensated for this in any way-other then the warm fuzzies, of course*

I suffer winter blahs for a variety of reasons both historical and seasonal. As soon as it goes gray, I feel terrible. I have heard you taking about these for years, but it's just not in my budget.

If I win and I find it helps me like it helps you, I'd help scream it from the rooftops of my blog. I'm open to anything that makes this year better.

I'm pretty sure I'm a follower because there is a link to your blog from my blog. That means I follow you, right? ;o)

I'm up for trying anything to help my mood. I have more not-so-great days than really good days even on A/D's. I run out of $ before my next paycheck, so I really can't afford to buy one of these lamps on my own. :o(

Sara said...

And my SAD story is that I know folks who suffer and would donate to the cause for one of 'em ;)

I'm a follower - you're on my blogroll. If there's a more official way to follow let me know ;)

Hmmm let's see my sad story. I stay in the house on a constant basis. Sure it helps me quit smoking but it truly stinks and sadly it affects my kids. I am cranky and irritable at the tiniest of things and I get OCD because I am home all the time I need things my way so it is my way or war. Ugh didn't want to admit that. But seriously if this lamp works as well as you share I am definitely going to look into finding someway to get it whether it be begging borrow ing or well we wont go there.

Deanna said...

I definitely could use this because I hate when in the winter it's so dark and depressing, I need sunshine! :)

Here's my extra comment to say that I am a follower.

I. Need. Daylight....I'm melting! I keep forgetting to ask Santa to bring me one of these. You told me about them late last winter when I was kvetching about all the grey skies. I'll bookmark this page so that I can buy one if I don't happen to win.

Great Giveaway!!

My sad story? Hello! I lived in your little Ohio town for 3 years...and Alaska for many more!!! As much as I love Alaska there is a reason we haven't moved back up there...too dark. My poor hubby can't handle it and definitely has SAD issues. Maybe this little baby can help my cause. I want to go back to Alaska!

I live in Alberta, where the temperature always dips below -40 in January (and sometimes in other months too). I used to live in Saskatoon which was as cold but seemed to get more sunshine. Here, the sun hides- a lot. And we don't get those nice warming chinooks like southern Alberta. Winter is here and it looks very long and dreary from where I am.

Michelle (LadyeJayne) said...

I follow you too.

I could sooo use this lamp.
We moved to FL over 5 years ago partly because I couldn't take the seasonal depression I went into up in Maryland. But without going into a lot of detail, we may be moving back and I could REALLY use this to stay sane in the cold, dreary months of snow and clouds.

It sounds like a wonderful product!

I am interested in one of these for my mother, a long time SAD sufferer who was never open to this until recently and thought you needed a prescription to get one. She needs all the help she can get as both she and my father have been profoundly depressed by the new living arrangements they are stuck with since his stroke last year. Add to that seasonal light deprivation and things get even uglier. My siblings and I plan on getting her one for Christmas anyway, if we win it instead we will use our pooled money to rent a wheelchair accessible van so we can get him home for Christmas.Good luck to all who are in need of this little wonder light!

My sad SAD story...I've recommended this lamp to many people based on one of your previous posts. My husband is definitely considering it - I think it would really help him. But, being parents, our money always has somewhere else to go. Winning this would be a wonderful way to boost his mood without making him fret about the cost at the same time (thus negating the positive effects of the light).

PLEASE pick me xoxo ... please .... I follow when I can :)

I have endless SAD stories including a little break down last night brought on my an upcoming move, some new and not so welcome news and the cold, grey days that are the norm here. But since I am moving to warmer and sunnier climes(at least temporarily) I would donate this to a fellow SAD sufferer.

I found you through Cup of Jo, and so glad I did! I am soooo in for this giveaway, amazing! I too panic every winter, I can just feel the anger at the cold weather coming in late fall and I hate it... i feel so much better in the spring, these cold, Canadian winters can get to a person! I've tried so many other things too, this could be the solution afterall.

Peg said...

I trust you completely after your endorsement of the shark mop (which I'm getting Lia for Christmas because she LOVES mine!) So, if you say I need this lamp and it will make my winter happy, I believe you! Count me in.

Wow, I like so many others that have posted, would LOVE to see if the SAD light lamp could help me my winter blahs. The lack of daylight hours brings with it a huge cut in my motivation and energy every winter--I mean in a sitonmybuttallday kind of way, sadly. Additionally, I've struggled with anxiety, depression and mood disorders my whole life, so winter and its ugly weather in the northeast really rocks my world (and not in a good way). Come springtime, it's amazing how different my attitude becomes. I've never been able to scrape together the funds to try a lamp like this, but I'd sure like to try it out to see if it would work for me. Like Jill, I'd shout from the rooftops (and my blog) if it works for me.

Dominique said...

But I'd like to find an attractive lamp :)

My SAD story is that I am from Southern CA, but have crept steadily northward as an adult. Living in Portland is mostly fantastic, but I have succumbed to the gloomy days. Seemingly endless days indoors have led me to believe that I need one of these to light up my life--you know, for those times when I am not reading the latest Momedy update! May the SADdest follower win!

I would love to win this! I have suffered from SAD ever since moving from AZ to UT 13 years ago. I need my sunlight back.

Ellen said...

I've always had slight SAD, but this winter it seems to come earlier and I suspect will be hitting harder. I think this is due to my husband now living in a city several states away as thats where he was able to get a job. It is much harder only seeing him every other weekend.

Stefani said...

Hey....I thought I was follower...guess I wasnt....so now I am!!!!!! Love ya girly!!!

Stefani said...

So you wanna hear a SADD story huh??? Can I say it started early this year. Whats the deal? I have no clue, but it really does affect your inner happiness doesnt it? Im actually scared for this season upon us. Im thinking I might be joining my dogs and laying on the floor in front of the sliding glass door to soak up all that afternoon sun....when it does appear. Im kicking myself in the butt for not getting the one I saw marked down at a local hardware store two years ago. =( So it would be wonderful to win this...if not it wont be the end of the world...just the end of my family LOL!!!!! Maybe I too should starve us all for a week...hmmm. Anyways...the no motivation, that lack of smiles, the feeling of seclusions etc is starting to beam its ugly head early this year. Have you started yours up earlier??

Rachel said...

Yes 'tis the season to be SADD...and it really is too bad but not much you can do about it when you live here!! I have tried to get Chris to move us somewhere warn all year. No luck! Anyhow I would love to win this!! Good luck to me!!

I already own a SAD lamp... this one in particular actually! My husband bought it for me last winter after hearing about it from Kirsty the year prior. We LOVE our SAD lamp. IF I win this... I will give it to my DH to keep and use at work!

FWIW... I am digging my SAD lamp out today and told DH to hook it up at our computer station so that I can start using it. I have been feeling a tad bit blue these past few days...

This is handy! My husband suffers from SAD! Each year....he struggles through the winter months.
It gets difficult to handle.
He's not interested in going to a tanning bed....and the doctor has recommended this lamp as a great alternative.

Awesome prize!

Last year I suffered from SAD so badly I had a severe Vitamin D and B deficiency. Crazy I know.
